Book Sales

In an ongoing effort to raise funds to help the Perry Public Library, the Friends of the Perry Public Library hold books sales periodically with donated items and withdrawn library materials.

Book Donation Guidelines ----------------------

The Friends of the Perry Public Library are grateful for donations from patrons, especially recent best sellers and classics for all ages. However, we are unable to accept all items that are brought to us. For this reason, please review the criteria listed below before bringing the items to the library. If you have questions about whether an item is acceptable for donation, please call 515.465.3569.

Book donations are accepted in person at the Circulation Desk. DO NOT put donations in the book drop. Upon request, the Friends of the Perry Public Library can give you a receipt for your donation for tax purposes.

Note that we receive many donations we cannot use due to condition, age, or origin.

Please note that we do not accept the following items:

  • Books damaged due to smoke, water, insects, mold, or mildew.
  • Encyclopedias, Almanacs, Dictionaries
  • Previously Withdrawn Library Books
  • Books with torn covers, missing pages, or broken bindings.
  • Children’s books that have been scribbled in, chewed, or torn.
  • Outdated (more than 6 years old) books.
  • Textbooks, elementary through college.
  • Magazines or periodicals.
  • Reader’s digest condensed books.
  • VHS tapes.
  • Audio Cassettes.
  • Homemade CDs and DVDs.

Because of limited space and resources, please help us by reviewing your book donations against these criteria before dropping them off at the library.
